Hisar: An on-duty doctor was recently abused by the kin of an elderly patient who passed away due to Covid-19.

Police have registered a case against two unidentified offenders following the complaint of the doctor, however, arrests are yet to be made.
In the last few weeks, many incidents have been reported in Hisar where the relatives of patients alleged negligence against the hospital after the death of COVID infected patients.
In the instant case, the patient has been identified as an 85-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment at Jindal Hospital in Hisar after being infected by COVID-19.
In his complaint, the doctor stated that the patient got admitted to the facility on 13th April and he served as the on-duty doctor in the COVID Ward of the facility on the night of 17th April. The woman passed away at around 11:30 on the same night.
As per a recent media report by the Times of India, the doctor in his complaint mentioned that after the relatives of the patient were informed about her demise, they suddenly resorted to violence and started abusing the doctor.
The doctor then approached the police and registered a complaint against two unidentified persons. Hisar police confirmed that Urban Estate police station has already booked the offenders under section sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 51-B (refuses to comply direction) of the Disaster Management Act.
A similar case was reported a few days ago in Hisar where the kin of a patient accused the hospital of negligence after the death of the COVID infected patient who was also a former BJP President.
In another case, a woman ran amok at the hospital premises after her husband's death. She alleged negligence in treatment against the hospital management. According to the daily, the patient was the son of a PWD department officer who succumbed to COVID at a private hospital. However, his wife claimed that the hospital management intentionally termed his husband as a COVID positive patient to avoid autopsy as it could have disclosed the negligence of the hospital.
