Hisar: The death of a young woman doctor in Haryana’s Hisar district, who was allegedly set on fire inside a university room, has come under intensified scrutiny by the Haryana Human Rights Commission. In the latest development, the commission has summoned the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officer to appear in person with the complete and original investigation records.

The matter reached the commission after a complaint was filed by the deceased doctor’s mother. She stated that on April 24, 2025, she was informed that her daughter was set on fire in his university room in Hisar. An FIR was registered in the case. However, she alleged that the accused was released in connivance with the police and that no effective action had been taken. She approached the commission seeking a fair and impartial investigation.

According to a report by The Tribune, Commission member Deep Bhatia has directed the Investigating Officer heading the SIT to appear before the commission on the next date of hearing, along with all relevant documents and material evidence. The hearing has been scheduled for April 6 at the Camp Court in Gurugram.

Earlier, taking serious note of the allegations, Bhatia had requisitioned a fresh status report. In compliance, the case was transferred to the State Crime Branch, Bhondsi, Gurugram. During the course of investigation, the concerned parties were interrogated on December 12, 2025. The case filed was later presented before the State Police Complaint Authority, Panchkula, on December 29, 2025, and the spot of occurrence was inspected on January 12, 2026.

The commission has made it clear that there will be no compromise on due process. Bhatia has stated that if any negligence, bias, or deliberate laxity is found in the investigation, strict legal action will be initiated against the officials concerned.

He observed, “The dignity of human life and the fairness of the legal process are paramount, and the commission remains fully committed to upholding these principles”.
