Kerakat: In a tragic incident, a physiotherapist lost his life on Wednesday after his throat was slit by a banned Chinese manjha while returning home on his motorcycle in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, once again highlighting the growing menace of illegal kite-flying thread and the lack of effective enforcement.

According to news reports, the victim, a resident of Sheikhzada Mohalla near Pachhatiya in Line Bazaar, Kerakat, was en route to the district hospital to attend to a patient when the accident occurred. While riding his bike, his neck came into contact with a sharp Chinese manjha. Despite wearing a helmet, he suffered severe injuries. On receiving the news, his father and brother rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

In a recent post on X, a doctor stated that the physiotherapist’s neck was slit by a Chinese manjha while he was riding his motorcycle in the Line Bazaar area of Jaunpur, highlighting the dangers posed by illegal kite strings.

Local residents have alleged that the police and administration have failed to curb the sale of banned manjha in the district effectively. Just a few weeks ago, a teacher lost his life in a similar incident while returning home after dropping his daughter off at school.

The physiotherapist’s death has sent shockwaves through the area, with residents expressing anger and fear over the increasing frequency of such incidents. They warned that the unchecked use of banned manjha poses a serious threat to public safety and demands urgent administrative intervention.
