Srinagar: Taking action against six doctors, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday terminated them from services for unauthorised absence from work.

However, the Government has decided to let off eleven doctors on the condition of bond undertaking from them, and their assurance to serve the State for at least five years.

The doctors who had to face the Government's wrath and who got sacked include Dr Mudasir Bashir of Batamaloo Srinagar, Dr Muzaffar Mohidin Hakeem of Palhalan Pattan, Dr Shazia Kausar of Rajbagh Srinagar, Dr Ubaid Ali of Chanapora Srinagar, Dr Nowsheen Mir of Hyderpora Srinagar and Dr Imran Khan of Kursoo Rajbagh, adds Kashmir Reader.

While one of these six doctors was absent from work since April 2017, others were not attending work from 2018 and 2019.

As per the latest media report by Kashmir Reader, the order issued by Secretary of Health and Medical Education Department of J & K, Bhupinder kumar pointed out how these doctors had earlier been served with notices, and they had been allowed an opportunity for resuming their services. Despite the chance, the doctors did not respond to the notice and did not join work as well.

In this regard, the order of the State Health Department stated, "However the doctors neither replied to final notice nor reported back for duties except Dr Ubaid Ali who after completion of course had signed a compulsory bond with the Karnataka government till January 2023 without any intimidation to the Health and medical Education department."

"The cases of the doctors have been examined thoroughly in the department in view of the rule position governing the subject and it has been found that since these doctors have not resumed their duties despite notices to them, this act on their part is a voluntary act and they are liable to be discharged from services," added the order.

On the other hand, eleven doctors of the State have been given the opportunity for resuming services within 21 days. However, for this, they need to submit an undertaking declaring that they are not involved in subversive activities and not working for any other government or private sector. They will also need to submit a bond stating that they will serve the J&K government for at least five years.

The list of these eleven doctors include, Dr Tariq Abdullah of Kuthair Anantnag, Dr Mudasir Muzamil of Sonawari Bandipora, Dr Shahid Hameed of Shadimarg Pulwama, Dr Malik Suhail of Doru Anantnag, Dr Adil basher of Kanth Bagh baramulla, Dr Ahmed Wajeed Yousuf of Malla Bagh Hazratbal Srinagar, Dr Shabir Ahmad Mir of Wagar Khansahib Budgam, Dr Mufeed Ahmad Bhat of Kamad Anantnag, Dr Iftikahr Ahmad Dugga of Nai Basti Khanabal Anantnag, and Dr Rayees Ahmad of Kuder Kulgam.

The termination of these six doctors should be read in continuation of the recent mass termination drive by the Jammu and Kashmir Government. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that few months ago, the Government had terminated 112 doctors for their alleged unauthorized absence from duties. These doctors include 100 Medical Officers, 6 Consultants (surgeons), 2 Dental Surgeons, and four B-Grade Specialists, whose services were terminated via four separate orders issued by J&K Health and Medical Education Department.
