KGMU CMS Prof S N Sankhwar appointed as Director of Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU
Varanasi: Professor S. N. Sankhwar, a renowned urologist and the distinguished Head of the Department of Urology at King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow has been appointed as the Director of the prestigious Institute of Medical Sciences at Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
He has been selected for his outstanding contributions to urology and his impressive achievements in the academic and medical fields. He will serve as the Director for five years at the institute and is expected to take charge after a week.
Prof. Sankhwar is also the Chief Medical Superintendent of KGMU. He has vast administrative experience and is known for his medical and academic accomplishments. His areas of expertise are general urology, male infertility, endourology and female urology. At KGMU, he has been contributing in various academic and administrative capacities, reports TOI.
He is a native of Palnagar village in Rasulabad, Kanpur, who completed his MBBS and MS degree from Kanpur's GSVM Medical College in 1983. Later, he completed his MCH from PGI, Chandigarh after which he joined KGMU as a teacher.
Congratulating Dr. Sankhwar on 'X', the official page of BHU said, "Prof. S. N. Sankhwar, Head, Department of Urology, KGMU, Lucknow, has been appointed the Director of Institute of Medical Sciences, #BHU. Prof. Sankhwar is a famed urologist known for his medical and academic accomplishments."
The Institute Of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) is one of the Six institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. It comprises three faculties, the Faculty of Medicine, Dental Sciences, and Ayurveda. It is an AIIMS-like institution and is in the process of upgrading its infrastructure, medical and research facilities and patient care.
The institute is affiliated to Banaras Hindu University and offers medical and paramedical courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It has 45 departments under three faculties.
