According to the complaint, the doctor stated that she is a Hindu and alleged that her male colleague, who belongs to the Muslim community, emotionally exploited her and pressured her to convert to Islam to marry him. She claimed that after she refused, he continued to harass her, which pushed her into severe mental distress and led to her suicide attempt.

Following the incident, her father filed complaints on the Chief Minister’s public grievance portal and with the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission. He alleged that his daughter attempted suicide due to continuous pressure from her colleague to change her religion.
Women’s Commission Vice President Aparna Yadav addressed a press conference along with the complainant and said the Commission would ensure strict action against the accused after due investigation. She stated that the senior doctor trapped a junior doctor in the name of love and forced her towards religious conversion. She termed the case "love jihad".
According to Aparna Yadav, the resident doctor was unaware that the accused doctor was already married. She alleged that the victim later came to know that his first wife had also undergone a religious conversion. When the junior doctor tried to step back, the senior doctor allegedly pressured and instigated her further.
Yadav told Bhaskar that an FIR would be registered in the matter and the accused would be arrested. She added that the Commission would seek strict punishment in court and would also examine whether any other individuals were involved in the case.
The victim doctor said she had approached the Women’s Commission seeking justice and protection. She expressed concern for the safety of herself and her family and demanded strict legal action against the accused.
A complaint regarding the incident had earlier been submitted to the KGMU proctor. Aparna Yadav stated that the victim has not received any threats after approaching the Commission.
