Gurugram: Following the incident of the alleged suicide committed by a liver transplant surgeon attached to Medanat Hospital, the police have now booked his wife, who is also a doctor, and two of her sisters for instigating the suicide.

This came after the victim's father filed a complaint against the accused under the charges of abetment, stating that the accused were mentally harassing the doctor.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the 39-year-old doctor was dealing with a separation. The couple had filed a mutual divorce petition in a local court. On September 1, they had to attend their first court hearing. As per the officials, just before taking the drastic step, the medical practitioner had a conversation with his wife over the phone, where he allegedly informed her that he was going to commit suicide by jumping off from the window.

Meanwhile, the police also found a note supposedly written by the deceased doctor where he clearly stated that no one should be made responsible for his action.

The body was sent for a post-mortem on September 3 (Thursday) during the afternoon. It was later handed over to the family of the deceased doctor, who had arrived in the city on September 2.
The police officer privy to the investigation told Hindustan times that "The victim's family reached the city on Wednesday night and the statement was recorded on Thursday. In the complaint, the victim's father said his son's wife and her two siblings had been harassing him. Their divorce proceedings are sub-judice."
Following the complaint, the three accused that include the wife of the deceased who herself is a doctor, and her two sisters, have been booked under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code at Sadar police station.
