Mob attacks Gynaecologist in alleged sexual assault, conversion case
Margherita: In a shocking incident, a male gynaecologist posted at Margherita Civil Hospital in Assam was allegedly tied to a pole and brutally thrashed by an angry mob after being accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a Hindu nurse from a private hospital, recording the act, blackmailing her with the video, and attempting to force her to convert to Islam.
The nurse alleged that the doctor had been harassing her for three months, pressuring her to read Namaz and convert to Islam. When she resisted, he allegedly assaulted her, even burning her with cigarettes. She further claimed that he forcibly fed her beef as punishment for refusing to convert. According to her statement, he initially raped her after spiking her drink and recorded the act. Later, he reportedly sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions by using the video to blackmail her.

The incident took place on February 22 when the doctor was brutally beaten outside the hospital after the matter came to light. According to the allegations, the woman, a 22-year-old nurse from the Gorkha community, was working at a private hospital in Margherita when she met with the Muslim doctor. As per an OpIndia news report, the doctor used to visit the private hospital where she worked and over time they became close.
