Badnawar: In a shocking incident, a doctor was allegedly cheated of nearly Rs 14 lakh by a man posing as an area manager of an insurance company and promising high investment returns along with a job opportunity.
According to the news reports, a case has been registered against the accused, a resident of Mathur Colony, following a complaint filed by the doctor, a resident of Mahalaxmi Nagar, Badnawar. Police have invoked relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and officials indicated that further suspects may be identified during the investigation.

Speaking to Free Press Journal, SHO Amit Singh Kushwaha said that the complaint was received last month and investigated by SI Shweta Prajapat. After recording statements and examining evidence, police found prima facie evidence against the suspect and registered a case.
In his complaint, the doctor stated that he had known the accused for nearly 10 years. During this period, the accused allegedly claimed to be an area manager with Bajaj Life Insurance Company and gained the complainant’s trust.
Police said the accused allegedly convinced the doctor to share sensitive personal documents such as Aadhaar, PAN, and other KYC details in December 2023.
The complainant further alleged that funds were transferred into his account through multiple channels and later diverted into various bank accounts linked to insurance agents and investment schemes on the instructions of the accused.
Believing the promises of financial returns and job prospects, the doctor reportedly transferred around Rs 14 lakh. Of this amount, Rs 10 lakh was borrowed from his father-in-law.
The matter came to light after the complainant did not receive any returns, and the accused allegedly stopped responding to calls. He subsequently approached the police, following which a case was registered.
