MP: Doctor, Malaria inspector sentenced to 4-year jail for accepting bribe
Dhar: Holding a doctor and a malaria Inspector guilty of taking a bribe of Rs 26000, a session court has sentenced them to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 each for their crime.
First Additional Sessions Judge convicted the accused in this case on Monday based on the evidence presented by the prosecution. The judge punished them under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, which was enacted to combat corruption in government agencies and public sector businesses in India.
Both the accused were caught red-handed by the team of Lokayukta who conducted the inspection based on a tip-off from TC Billauray complainant Nitesh Dashodhi who was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 26000.

According to the deputy director of prosecution, a complaint was made at the Lokayukta Office, Indore in July 2017 regarding the bribe case and a plan of action was then devised that trapped both of them on the spot, reports Free Press Journal.
On July 21, 2017, the complainant met the Malaria Inspector, and a demand of Rs 26,000 was made by him as commission. The complainant made the move according to the trap plan set by the team.
While the malaria inspector was demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant in the presence of the doctor, the team caught them red-handed and arrested them. After successfully trapping them, the team presented them on the court.
After completing the investigation, the Lokayukta police presented the charge sheet for trial in court on July 6, 2019. During the trial, the prosecution produced 10 witnesses in the court to prove the case. Later, the court sentenced them on June 26, 2023.
Currently, both the accused have been sent to jail.
