Mumbai: A practicing doctor in the area has been apprehended by the Malwani police on charges of raping two women. The arrested individual, identified as Dr. Bhanushali, reportedly lured women through social media, specifically Instagram, and then allegedly committed heinous acts against them.

Police reports suggest that Dr. Bhanushali established connections with his victims on Instagram. After forming a rapport and gaining their trust, he would allegedly rape them and subsequently blackmail them to prevent any reporting of the crime.

As per agency reports, following the arrest, Dr. Bhanushali was presented in court, which ruled for his remand into judicial custody. As of now, two formal complaints have been filed against him. The first came to light on September 27, while the subsequent one was filed on October 3. These charges have sent shockwaves through the community, questioning the safety and privacy one can expect in the age of digital interaction.

Advocate Rafique Gori, who is legally representing one of the victims, expressed concerns that this might be the tip of the iceberg. He mentioned, "Given the circumstances and the pattern, we anticipate more victims to come forward."
