Tirupati: In fear of their family members plotting to separate them, a newly-wed doctor couple has sought protection from the police after a gang of 30 unidentified men abducted the woman doctor from their house.

After getting married two months ago, the couple moved to their house at Mohan Reddy Colony in Chandragiri. The husband has been identified as Mohan, and her wife is named Sushma, a doctor by profession.

On Thursday, a gang broke into their house, thrashed the husband, and kidnapped her wife forcefully at midnight. They also broke the furniture in the house. The situation was sudden, and police suspect Sushma's family members were involved in her abduction.

The duo was in a relationship since their MBBS day and later got married. However, Sushma, a resident of Guntur faced much backlash from her family because their marriage was not approved. Against the wishes of her family, she married Mohan and moved to his house. According to the groom's relatives, Sushma's parents were opposed to their relationship. They had even tried to take her back earlier. Now, the police suspect that the relatives of the woman, Sushma, might have sent the gang since she had married Mohan against their wishes.

Mohan told TOI, "Sushma's parents along with 30 others broke into our house and kidnapped my wife using force." Later, Sushma managed to return to her husband after escaping from the kidnappers.

The couple then filed a case at the police station with the support of Tirupati SP P Parameswara Reddy. The duo asked Reddy to provide them with police protection so that in case any similar cases occur again. Police are investigating the case to nab the gang.
