Guwahati: 10-year-old daughter of Doctor kidnapped for Rs 7 lakh ransom, Driver arrested
Guwahati: A man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl who is a daughter of a doctor and demanding a Rs 7 lakh ransom.
The police identified the accused as Narahari Barman, a resident of Barpeta, Assam. He was the driver of the Dr Buddhaditya Bhattacharya who kidnapped his daughter instead of taking her to the tuition class.
The incident took place when the 10-year-old girl was picked up by Barman. Barman usually drops the girl at her tuition at around 7:30 pm. However, on that day, he planned to kidnap the girl. After she got into the car, he disappeared with the girl. Later he called the mother of the child and asked for Rs 7 lakh ransom.

The matter was immediately reported to the police. after investigating, the police tracked the driver's location which was shown behind a Ganesh temple in the Khanapara area and rescued the girl. She is safe now and has been handed over to their parents, The Sentinel reports.
An FIR was lodged under Section 359, 367 of IPC and the man was arrested by the police.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a shocking incident, a person had allegedly kidnapped a one-year-old baby from the Meerut medical college while impersonating a medical staff member and was subsequently caught on camera.
The parents of the baby complained to the Kithor police station where Neenu Kumar, resident of Mahalwala village of Kithor police station area, said his wife Doli gave birth to their child at LLR Medical college hospital and alleged that a stranger posing as an employee of the hospital befriended them and took away their child. The man took the child away, claiming that the baby needed to be vaccinated.
