Odisha Doctor manhandled by patient's kin, Probe on

Dhenkanal: In yet another case of violence against a medical professional, an on-duty doctor at Parjang Medical in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha was allegedly physically assaulted by the patient's kin. 

The doctor was allegedly attacked by the attendant following an argument between them after he brought his wife to the medical centre. The violent altercation caused chaos within the hospital.

As per KalingaTv, the incident occurred after a young man from Domuhani village of Parjang Thana, brought his wife to the medical centre as she was unwell. For some reason, he had an argument with his doctor but the reason remains unclear.    

However, the accused who is the husband of the patient and two young individuals who accompanied him are facing allegations of assaulting the doctor. During this incident, a police constable who was present intervened to stop the accused, but unfortunately, the young man proceeded to harm the doctor physically.   

According to the video, a nurse can be heard saying, “Why are you hitting our Sir”.

Following the incident, the doctor filed a complaint at the Parjang police station and an investigation is underway.   

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that two on-duty doctors of the surgery department at Tamluk Medical College and Hospital were allegedly attacked by the relatives of a patient who died during treatment in their hospital. The incident occurred when the patient was admitted and five people allegedly involved in the assault at a state-run hospital in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district were arrested.
