Kozhikode: In a shocking incident of attack on an on-duty doctor in Kerala, two persons who came to the hospital seeking treatment allegedly assaulted a doctor at Government taluk hospital in Nadapuram.
The on-duty doctor, a native of Chalakkudy in Thrissur became a victim of violence after attempting to calm the ruckus created by two unidentified persons at the hospital following which the police registered a case against them under the Hospital Protection Act based on the doctor's complaint.
The incident happened around midnight on Wednesday when one of the accused who came to the hospital for treatment began complaining of ear congestion. Although the accused had previously visited another hospital for ear pain, the doctor there did not prescribe any medicine since the pain did not subside. The accused shouted and verbally abused the hospital staff. Hearing the commotion, the doctor reached the ward and tried to intervene in the argument to calm the situation.
However, the plan backfired and he was pushed and assaulted by the accused.
Currently, the police are trying to identify the persons through the CCTV footage of the hospital. An investigation into the case is underway.
