Online fraudster cheats doctor of Rs 23 lakh
Coimbatore: A doctor was cheated of Rs 23.35 lakh by an unidentified person who got in touch with the medical practitioner via WhatsApp and advised him to invest in gold and diamonds for better profits.
As per a recent media report in The Hindu, the doctor trusted the words of the person and downloaded an application for the said purpose. He transferred an amount of Rs 23.35 lakh from his account to the mobile application.

However, the doctor realized that he was duped after he called the person to enquire about the profit dividend, who further demanded the doctor to make more investments. Upon realizing that he was cheated, the doctor approached the city cybercrime police. Subsequently, a case was registered.
