Orthopaedician allegedly demands Rs 50 lakh dowry, FIR lodged

Ahmedabad: An orthopaedic doctor has been charged for alleged dowry demands, domestic violence, criminal intimidation, and abetment against her wife.
The complainant has been identified as a 43-year-old woman from the Naranpura area and a native of Indore. She alleged in her complaint that her husband constantly asked for Rs 50 lakh so that he can open a new hospital in Dahod.
When she denied providing the money, her husband scared her by telling her his ex-wife is a ghost who roams the house and later he abandoned her wife.

The incident took place when after their marriage, her husband began acting strange by scaring her with his ex-wife's ghost and saying that the ghost would kill her if she did not follow what he wants. He tried to convince her that the ghost will leave her if she provides him with Rs 50 lakh.
She also did not receive any help from her in-laws as they said the same story. The doctor also allegedly assaulted her when she refused to give him money. After she and her children got abandoned by her husband, she went to the police station and lodged a complaint against her husband.
The police later filed an FIR against her husband on Tuesday. She alleged in her complaint that they were abandoned with no financial support in December 2021, TOI reports.

This is the second marriage for both of them. The duo got married in 2014. As per her statement, she has two children from her past marriage that took place in 1988 and got divorced in 2012.
The children are 22 and 19 years old respectively. The doctor also has three children from his past marriage. The ghostly tale came after his first wife committed suicide in the house.
At first, the doctor backtracked from his decision to accept her children but later accepted them.
