The deceased’s family has accused the clinic of providing wrong treatment, leading to her untimely death.
According to news reports, the woman was taken to the clinic by her relatives on Friday for treatment of a sore on her left leg. However, she reportedly died while undergoing treatment, prompting her family to accuse the clinic of medical negligence.
Acting on the complaint, a team of health department officials led by Joint Director of Health Services P. Premalatha inspected the clinic on Saturday morning. Officials found that the clinic had been functioning without mandatory registration under the Tamil Nadu Clinical Establishments Act, lacked a valid drug licence, and did not have basic emergency medicines stocked. Officials said the clinic had been functioning only for the past few months without fulfilling basic regulatory requirements.
