Police on lookout for doctor booked for allegedly molesting colleague in Malad hospital

Mumbai: The Malad police has launched a search operation to nab a doctor who has been booked based on a complaint by his doctor colleague who alleged that the medical practitioner molested her by touching her inappropriately in the hospital's office on Sunday.

The woman doctor in her complaint stated that on Sunday evening when was working alone in a cabin at the hospital, the accused doctors spotted her and sneaked into the room. He allegedly hugged her from behind and groped and touched her inappropriately. The scared medical practitioner somehow freed herself and ran out of the cabin

Utterly shocked at the alleged misbehavior of the doctor, she narrated the incident to her colleagues who suggested her to approach the police. Soon, she lodged an FIR against the doctor at the Malad police station.

Subsequently, the police booked the doctor under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for outraging the modesty of a woman. A case has been registered against the doctor under Section 354 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for 'Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, reports Free Press Journal.

When the police visited the doctor's residence, he was missing. Police also tried looking for him at the hospital but he was nowhere to be found. Cops are currently investigating the case and are trying to nab the doctor for further process, reports the daily.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported a similar case where a 25-year-old female doctor accused two of her colleague-doctors of repeatedly approaching and touching her inappropriately in the doctors' room and demanding sexual favours from her. All these doctors were a part of the medical team at the Jumbo COVID-19 facility in Pune.
