Medical Dialogues had reported that the medico ended his life by injecting himself with a lethal intravenous dose at his residence. According to the police’s preliminary investigation, he was facing severe financial problems and was under immense mental stress, which is believed to have pushed him to take the extreme step.

The police said that the deceased was in deep debt after taking loans from banks in his name. He had borrowed the money to lend it to four of his friends, giving large amounts ranging from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 1.4 crore.

However, when he asked for repayment, they allegedly refused and reportedly told him they would not return the money "even if he were dead." Their response left him deeply distressed, and along with the mental pressure of mounting debts, police suspect this might have driven him to take the extreme step.

The wife of the deceased, who is also a government doctor, alleged that her husband was driven to suicide by his friends. In her complaint, she named the friends and accused them of borrowing huge sums of money from her husband and taking bank loans in his name, totalling around Rs 3 crore. She further claimed that they refused to return the money and threatened her husband, causing him severe mental distress.

A senior police officer told The Hindu, “We have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A detailed investigation is underway from all angles to determine the exact cause of his suicide.”
