Depressed over poor grades, MBBS student commits suicide in Kota

Kota: In a tragic incident reported from Rajasthan's Kota, an MBBS student allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house.
A MBBS student from Kota Government Medical College reportedly died by suicide in her residence at Aakashvani Colony, Kota, Rajasthan, on Friday, reports PTI. The young woman, identified as 21 year old, was found hanging from a ceiling fan by her sister at noon, sparking an immediate response from family and neighbours, news agency PTI added.
According to preliminary reports, the student had been battling depression after receiving poor marks in her recent examinations.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Ghanshyam informed ANI, "The girl lived in government quarters... An MBBS second-year student has committed suicide. The family members have submitted a petition. Postmortem has been conducted."
The ASI further said, "Investigation is ongoing. Such information is coming in that the marks were a bit low in studies. Nothing like that (suicide note) was found."

As per the report by IndiaTV, the student had been living in a government quarter with her three siblings. Police said she hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her house on Friday noon. She was taken to a private hospital where doctors declared her dead. She was later taken to the MBS Government Hospital and police were informed.
A case was filed under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the probe had been launched. Police said Prima facie it appears to be a suicide case.
An autopsy is underway, following which the body would be handed over to family members, police said.
