Pune doctor allegedly assaulted by three men after driving dispute
Pune: A 35-year-old doctor was allegedly assaulted by three men following a dispute over driving in Pune's Kalepadal area, police said. The doctor sustained injuries to his right hand and left shoulder and later approached the police to lodge a complaint.
The incident took place around 1 am on August 10 when the doctor was travelling towards a petrol pump in the Undri area. According to police, three men riding a motorcycle stopped his car near Kadnagar Chowk and accused him of driving recklessly.
The accused allegedly forced the doctor out of his car and abused him. They then reportedly picked up a stone from the road and threw it at him. Police said the group also assaulted him with a blunt object before fleeing the spot.
The doctor sustained injuries to his right hand and left shoulder in the alleged attack.
He approached Kalepadal police on August 17 and filed a complaint. Police subsequently registered a case and launched a search for the three accused.
A police officer said the incident occurred when the doctor was on his way to a petrol pump. The suspects allegedly blocked his vehicle, confronted him over his driving and assaulted him after an argument.
Police said they have identified the suspected attackers and are making efforts to trace and apprehend them. According to TOI, around 1 am on Aug 10, the complainant was on his way to a petrol station. When he reached Kadnagar Chowk, three men riding a motorcycle blocked his way, forced him out of the car and began abusing him. They hit him with stones and assaulted him with a blunt object before fleeing, police said.
The investigation is being carried out by the Kalepadal police. Police are also examining the circumstances leading to the dispute and the alleged assault.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road-rage disputes escalating into physical violence, particularly when motorists are confronted over driving-related disagreements.
