Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a man pretending to be a doctor at a private hospital allegedly molested a woman patient, following which he was arrested by the police after the husband of the patient caught the accused red-handed in the act.

Apart from the fake doctor who worked at the hospital without a valid medical degree, another person was also arrested on Saturday for allegedly molesting the woman in the outpatient department of the hospital.

It came to light that the Mumbai police registered an FIR under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act and Maharashtra Nursing Home Act against three persons in connection with the case in which two persons have been arrested and the hospital owner is absconding.

The incident took place on Saturday when the woman and her husband went to the hospital for a check-up, where the accused took the victim into the OPD room and allegedly started touching her inappropriately.

The victim’s husband, who was in the waiting area, sensed something amiss after she did not come out of the OPD for a long time and caught the accused in the act when he went to check on her.

The couple created a ruckus at the hospital and approached the police, he said.

Later, the couple filed a complaint at the police station and the accused were arrested after an FIR was registered based on their statements.

During the probe, the police found that one of the accused, who worked as a doctor at the hospital, did not hold any medical degree and his details were not registered with the MMC.

At the moment, the police are in the process of finding the owner of the hospital that employed the accused without registering his medical degree.
