Ranchi Homeopathic doctor killed; daughter-in-law arrested

Ranchi: In a shocking incident, a homoeopathic doctor was allegedly murdered by his daughter-in-law in Jharkhand’s Ranchi, police said. The accused was arrested in connection with the case, which took place in the Vidyanagar area following an alleged domestic dispute. 

According to police, the deceased was a well-known homeopathic doctor who had reportedly been bedridden for several months after suffering paralysis. He was allegedly smothered with a pillow by the accused on Saturday afternoon while other family members were away from home.

The incident occurred when the doctor’s wife had gone out to deliver food to her son at his shop. Investigators revealed that tensions had reportedly existed within the household for some time, with frequent disputes occurring between the accused and her father-in-law.

The victim’s son alleged that his wife attempted to destroy evidence after the incident. He claimed she tried to hide the pillow used in the alleged murder on the terrace, where police later recovered it with suspected bloodstains. He also accused her of trying to damage CCTV cameras installed inside the house.

The doctor’s son, who married the accused in November 2025, told police that he had installed CCTV cameras to monitor his father’s health remotely while at work. He said he noticed a confrontation on the live feed and rushed home immediately, but his father had already died.

Speaking to India Today, the son broke down while demanding strict punishment for his wife. He alleged that the killing was carried out in a "brutal manner" and described his wife as a "psycho killer". The body has been sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for post-mortem examination.

Ranchi City SP Paras Rana confirmed that a case has been registered and that police are investigating the matter from all angles. He stated that CCTV footage currently shows only the accused entering and leaving the victim’s room, while the precise circumstances surrounding the death are still under examination.

He added that the investigation is being carried out from all possible directions. Police are also examining whether the victim’s existing health conditions, such as paralysis and heart problems, had any role in his death. Officials said the matter is being handled seriously. Further action will depend on medical and forensic reports, according to Asia Net News.
