Retired doctor arrested over attempt to sexually assault patient

Kottayam: A retired government doctor was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman patient at his private clinic, police said.

The accused was arrested following a complaint by a 23-year-old patient who had sought treatment for an ailment at his clinic in Murikkumbuzha in Pala in this district, on Monday, news agency PTI reported.

The complaint alleged that the doctor misbehaved with the victim under the pretext of treatment.

As per a media report in the TOI, the complaint was that the doctor misbehaved and attempted to sexually assault her during a medical examination at the clinic. The accused was also an active leader of govt doctors' association.

A team of personnel from the Pala police Station arrested him, police added.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a case has been registered against a doctor for allegedly misbehaving with a teenage girl at his private clinic in this north Kerala district, police said. The incident happened in February this year, and the family lodged a complaint against the doctor, they said.
