Rohtak PGIMS director warns of Disciplinary action against doctors leaving duty early

Rohtak: In a recent surprise inspection at Pt BD Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), the institute's director discovered that several doctors, including junior doctors, left before the end of their shifts. In response, the director issued a stern warning, stating that strict disciplinary action would be taken against those found neglecting their duties and leaving early. 

After receiving complaints about doctors leaving their duties before the end of their shifts, the director inspected all wards, along with the Ophthalmology, ENT, PCCM, Orthopaedic Workshop, Physiotherapy departments, and the Sports Injury Centre.

Taking a strong stance against doctors leaving their shifts, Director Dr SK Singhal made it clear that any doctor or employee found leaving their post before the shift ends would face disciplinary action. He also emphasised that no one, particularly junior doctors, would be permitted to leave before their assigned shift ends.

During a surprise inspection on Saturday, Dr. Singhal visited several hospital wards and departments, including Ophthalmology, ENT, PCCM, Orthopaedic Workshop, Physiotherapy, and the Sports Injury Centre. The inspection, conducted around 3:30 pm, also covered Wards 2, 3, 14, 15, and 16. It was also attended by several senior officers. 

Emphasising that maintaining discipline within the hospital is crucial in providing the best care to patients, Singhal stated that junior doctors must remain on duty just like their department heads. He stated that if a department head remained on duty for the full shift, junior doctors must follow suit and stay until the end of their designated hours, with no exceptions. He also announced that similar surprise inspections would continue across hospital wards and outpatient departments (OPDs) to ensure strict adherence to duty hours.

Commenting on the matter, Dr Singhal told The Tribune, “Our priority is to maintain discipline and ensure superior service to our patients. All employees must arrive on time and remain on duty until the completion of their shifts. Our primary goal is to serve patients with full dedication, and this requires everyone to adhere strictly to their duty timings."
