Rohtak: In a recent development, the proposed deputation of faculty members-cum-consultants from Pt BD Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, to Pt Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College (GMC), Bhiwani, has been put on hold until further notice. The move comes amid growing concerns about the impact of the deputation on patient care services at PGIMS, Rohtak

According to news reports, the mass deputation — ordered ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled inauguration of the Bhiwani Medical College on April 14 — has strained essential medical services at the Rohtak facility.

Doctors from PGIMS are no longer required to report to Bhiwani, as the earlier order has been put on hold. The update was confirmed by PGIMS Director Dr. S.K. Singhal. Speaking to Tribune India, he said, “The decision to depute the faculty members-cum-consultants to Government Medical College at Bhiwani has been put on hold, and the doctors will not have to visit Bhiwani now.”

According to Tribune India, a communique issued by the PGIMS administration and shared by Dr Singhal reads, “This is in reference to this office order issued vide letter no. But now it is to intimate you that faculty visit of selected departments to Bhiwani is kept on hold with effect from April 12, as was already informed to them verbally, till further orders.”

The initial deputation order, acting on instructions from the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Haryana, had mandated the presence of 40 faculty members and consultants from various PGIMS departments in Bhiwani to assist with inspection duties and the installation of medical equipment.

While several doctors had already completed visits to Bhiwani on April 10 and 11, others were expected to travel on April 14, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s visit. However, after the concerns were highlighted and pressure mounted, authorities decided to reconsider the timing and necessity of the deputation.
