Mumbai: A third year PG medical student allegedly committed suicide by injecting herself with a heavy dose of anesthesia on Thursday at her Worli residence.

No suicide note was found, however, cops were informed that the deceased was allegedly stressed due to her academics.
According to a recent media report in The Free Press Journal, the medico was under a lot of stress for the past couple of months due to her academics and was worried about her third year exam results. She was receiving a treatment for the same as well.
The deceased has been identified as a 29-year-old MBBS doctor pursuing MD on Anesthesia from civic-run King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital.
The third-year PG medico returned to her house at around 3:30 p.m. and went to her bedroom on Thursday. Her mother who herself is a doctor also returned by the evening and asked the house help about the whereabouts of her daughter. She informed her that the medico was in her room. When the doctor went to meet her daughter in her room, she found her lying unconscious inside the room.
The father of the medico was also at home, however, he was in the living room unaware of the tragedy. The parents immediately rushed the medico to the nearest civic-run BYL Nair Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors declared the medico dead on arrival.
The police were subsequently informed who started investigating the case. Police did not find any suicide letter from the spot. The initial investigation seems to suggest that the medico passed away due to an anesthesia overdose, reports Free Press Journal.
Meanwhile, autopsy report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death. However, it is clear that the doctor administered the injection on her left hand, the police stated.
"Prima facie we suspect that she has died due to anesthesia overdose, we have registered an accidental death report and further investigation is underway," Anil Koli senior inspector of Worli police station told the daily.
