Telangana Medical Council inspection finds 3 dentists, 2 homoeopaths providing skin treatments

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown, the Telangana Medical Council identified three dental practitioners and two homoeopathic doctors allegedly treating skin-related conditions at a well-known dermatology clinic in Hyderabad during a surprise inspection.
According to reports, the five non-dermatologists include three dental practitioners and two homoeopathic doctors, who were reportedly carrying out skin procedures despite not being qualified in allopathic dermatology.
Taking action against the doctors for reportedly indulging in unethical practices, the council registered an FIR against the five practitioners under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.

As per The Hindu, the inspection was conducted at V Care Hair and Skin Clinic located at Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, as part of an ongoing drive launched by the Council on May 30 to inspect dermatology clinics across the city. The inspecting team of the TGMC consisted of Dr Vishnu Kadali (TGMC member), Dr Kiran Kumar Thotawar (Vice Chairman, TSMC), and Dr Jalagam Vijay (HRDA member).
According to the council, an inquiry would be initiated against the doctors officially registered with the clinic. The Council alleged that they may have allowed or supported the unauthorised practice of the doctors.
Based on the findings of the inquiry, disciplinary action could be taken under the Medical Ethics Regulations, including the suspension of medical licences.
Furthermore, the TGMC further said it would recommend the Hyderabad District Collector and the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) to seal the clinic and initiate legal action against the management for engaging in such activities.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the council identified several unqualified dermatologists running skin and hair clinics in the state without a valid degree, experience and credibility. The development came after the council conducted an inspection of 20 skin, hair, and aesthetic clinics across Kukatpally, Miyapur, and Kondapur on April 3. The inspection uncovered a disturbing trend—several clinics were operating without qualified dermatologists, with untrained individuals carrying out medical procedures.
