Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council continued its statewide crackdown on quackery and illegal medical practice on Tuesday by conducting inspections in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts and identifying 12 unauthorised clinics and first aid centres allegedly operating without valid qualifications or legal authorisation.
The latest action comes days after the Council booked 11 alleged quacks during inspections in Nizamabad on May 9.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in an attempt to curb quackery, the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) booked 11 quacks during an inspection conducted in Nizamabad on Friday, May 9.
In addition, TGMC teams also carried out surprise raids on five unauthorised clinics in Hyderabad’s Old City area.
According to TGMC officials, inspection teams found several individuals allegedly practising medicine without recognised qualifications or legal permission, raising serious concerns over patient safety and public health.
Speaking to TOI, TGMC stated that quackery and unauthorised medical practice pose a serious threat to public health and patient safety. The council said legal action would be initiated against those involved under the provisions of the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act and Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.
The council further stated that detailed inspection reports would be forwarded to the respective district collectors, District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs), police authorities, and the Drug Control Administration (DCA) for further legal and administrative action.
According to The Daily, the unauthorised clinics and first aid centres identified during the drive included Susmitha Health Clinic, Rahim Clinic, Sri Sai Clinic, Rohini First Aid Centre, Sri Durga Clinic, Kurumurthy Clinic, Laxmi Clinic, Abhiram First Aid Centre and other first aid centres operating in the inspecting areas.
Reiterating its commitment to curb quackery across Telangana, the Council said surprise inspections would continue statewide and urged the public to seek treatment only from qualified and registered medical practitioners.
