Tragic: Woman doctor killed, her husband injured after truck rams into couple's car
Pune: In a tragic incident, a female doctor died and her husband, director of a private hospital, sustained injuries after their car was crushed by a speeding truck on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway on Wednesday.
The Shikrapur police have booked the truck driver responsible for the accident under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way),337,338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others),304 (a) (Causing death by negligence) of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The unfortunate incident took place while they were on their way to Pune. The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old woman doctor, the wife of a 40-year-old doctor who is also the director at Khaire hospital in Shikrapur.

Although the husband has survived and is currently under treatment at Surya private hospital, his wife was pronounced dead by the doctors due to her serious injuries.
On February 15 at around 6.45 am at Shikrapur on the highway, the couple halted at the Sai Sahara petrol pump to fill the fuel in the car. The couple was seriously injured when a speeding cement mixer rammed into their car when they were taking a U-turn from there.
Following this, they were immediately taken to the hospital.
A complaint was filed against the truck driver holding him responsible for the accident which caused the death of the female doctor.
While investigating the case, the police found that the truck driver was not under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened. A medical test conducted on the driver revealed it.
Hemant Kshirsagar, senior police inspector at Shikrapur police station, told HT, “We have booked truck driver for rash and negligent driving and further investigation in this case is underway.’’
