Preliminary inquiries revealed that the doctor had gone to the room after completing his shift and did not respond to repeated calls or knocks on the door. Hospital staff subsequently forced open the room and found him unconscious. Despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead.

According to Balapur police, the deceased was a qualified Unani doctor with a bachelor's degree from Visakhapatnam, reports TOI.

Balapur police said they received a Dial 100 alert reporting a death at Recovery Hospital. A Clues team recovered two syringes from the scene for forensic analysis, according to Deccan Chronicle.

Investigators suspect that the doctor may have administered a substance to himself, although officials emphasized that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the completion of the post-mortem examination and forensic tests.

Family members of the deceased alleged that the doctor had been struggling under intense workplace pressure for an extended period. They claimed that the hospital management subjected him to harassment and unreasonable demands, which severely affected his mental well-being.

Speaking to News Meter, the family further alleged that attempts were made to keep the incident from coming to light. They claimed that the body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem and accused those concerned of trying to handle the matter discreetly.

The bereaved family has urged the government and senior police officials to conduct a thorough probe into the doctor’s death.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding workplace stress and mental health challenges faced by healthcare professionals.
