UP Govt terminates three doctors for unauthorized absence from duty
Lucknow: Taking action against absent government doctors, the Uttar Pradesh government has terminated the services of three doctors for taking a long absence from work without informing the authorities.
According to officials, the doctors failed to respond to the repeated attempts of contact made by the health department, following which they were dismissed from their services.
The deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, also the state's Health Minister, had passed the orders to terminate the doctors. He said, "The doctor has been dismissed with immediate effect."
The doctors did not respond to the multiple calls the health department officials gave, reports the TOI. Pathak said, "It is a good fortune to get the responsibility of serving the public. Those who do not perform their duties in the Uttar Pradesh government will not be tolerated."
"No stone would be left unturned in providing better treatment to the patients. All doctors should serve their patients with hard work and honesty," he added.
The three doctors have been identified as Dr Sharma from Aligarh, Dr Hussain and Dr Gupta from Gonda. The three were posted as medical officers and were absent from work for a long time. Further, the minister clarified that if any person violates the government service rules, strict action will be taken against them. Indiscipline will not be tolerated under any circumstances, he said.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported another termination incident where two government doctors had been terminated for allegedly indulging in private practice. Minister Brajesh Pathak had said that the services of a doctor posted as ortho surgeon at Ramsanehi Ghat Community Health Centre (CHC) in Barabanki, and another doctor, a medical officer posted at Dankaur CHC, Noida, had been terminated. The action was taken against both doctors after a departmental inquiry found them guilty.
