Private practice: Orthopaedic surgeon, Medical officer terminated in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: In spite of the ban on private practice by the state government, two doctors in Uttar Pradesh posted as ortho surgeon at Ramsanehi Ghat Community Health Centre (CHC) in Barabanki, and another doctor, a medical officer posted at Dankaur CHC, Noida have been terminated for allegedly indulging in private practice.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the charge of Health Minister, said that the services of a doctor posted as ortho surgeon at Ramsanehi Ghat Community Health Centre (CHC) in Barabanki, and another doctor, a medical officer posted at Dankaur CHC, Noida, have been terminated.
He said that any such violation in the future would be dealt with firmly.
Action has been taken against both doctors after a departmental inquiry found them guilty.

Health department officials said that inquiries were ordered on several complaints made by the patient’s attendants.
They were found violating a state government order issued in 1978, which bans private practice by government doctors.
It is also seen as a violation of the Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1956, which states that "no Government servant shall (a) in the performance of his official duties, act in a discourteous manner; (b) in his official dealings with the public or otherwise adopt dilatory tactics or wilfully cause delays in disposal of the work assigned to him."
As per officials, both were regular doctors selected through Provincial Medical Services.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that an order of suspension was issued for an assistant professor at Government Medical College Manjeri for allegedly practicing in a private hospital despite being a government employee.
The professor was caught red-handed by the Kerala Vigilance department following an enquiry conducted at the private hospital.
