Uttarakhand: 2 Junior Doctor groups of Almora Medical College engage in fight, probe ordered

Almora: Two groups of junior doctors of orthopaedic and surgery departments working at the Almora Medical College have reportedly got into a scuffle in the emergency ward over arguments on the manner of treatment provided to a patient. 

The incident took place when a junior resident, Dr. Rohit Mehra from the orthopaedic department, was treating the arm of a three-year-old child when another junior resident, Dr. Makhan Soni came there from the surgery department.

They allegedly began arguing over the manner of treatment provided to the child, which subsequently led to a fight between the two. The junior doctors working there began joining the fight and took each doctor's side, as both of them began beating and kicking each other, reports the Times of India. 

As per Live Hindustan, Junior Resident Dr Rohit Mehra alleged that he had come to the emergency ward late Saturday evening after receiving information about the patient, where Junior Resident Dr Makhan Soni also reached during treatment. Dr. Rohit, who is reported to have been injured has registered a complaint with the police. 

Dr CP Bhaisoda, principal of the medical college has ordered an investigation into the incident. When the principal reached the spot, the doctors allegedly fled the spot. The principal said, "A high level inquiry will be conducted in the matter. Further action will be taken after hearing both the sides on Monday. Anarchy will not be tolerated under any circumstances."

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a 34-year-old man was arrested by the police for allegedly posing as an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Professor and harassing his doctor wife for dowry. The accused was identified as 34-year-old V. Prabakaran, a native of Devakottai, who owns a local tiffin shop near Ashok Nagar.
