Araria: In a shocking incident of alleged violence against medical professionals, a doctor, also the owner of a children's hospital in Araria, was allegedly abused and slapped by a Deputy Collector during an inspection of the hospital.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the Deputy Collector entering the doctor’s chamber, asking his name twice, and allegedly slapping him after the doctor requested the officials to sit down and continue the discussion calmly.

The Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) has strongly condemned the incident and issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the state government. The association warned that healthcare services across the district will be suspended if the government fails to take strict action.

The incident reportedly took place at Bachpan Neo & Child Hospital in Forbesganj, where the doctor alleged that the Deputy Collector slapped him without provocation during a routine inspection drive, as per a post on the social media platform 'X'. It has been reported that the ADM has, however, filed a counter-complaint claiming that he was beaten and held hostage by hospital staff.

The doctor has further alleged that the team entered his chamber without prior notice and used abusive language against him for not wearing an apron. As the argument intensified, he accused the Deputy Collector of slapping him.

In a letter dated February 12, 2026, addressed to the Secretary of the Health Department, the Association demanded immediate suspension of the officer concerned and a fair inquiry into the matter. It warned that if strict action is not taken within the stipulated time, doctors across the district may suspend healthcare services in protest.

"Such incidents seriously affect the morale, dignity, and safety of doctors in the state. They are creating an atmosphere of fear and anger among doctors. These incidents are also extremely harmful to the smooth functioning of the healthcare system. If appropriate action is not taken against the officer within the stipulated time, the Bihar Health Services Association will be compelled to take further steps to protect the dignity and safety of doctors," mentioned the letter.
