Woman delivers outside Rajasthan Hospital; Doctor, Nursing staff suspended
Jaipur: After a pregnant woman delivered a baby on a bench outside the Nainwa sub-district hospital in Bundi district, the Rajasthan Medical and Health Department on Monday suspended a senior medical officer and an ANM (Assistant Nurse Midwife) staff for alleged negligence in treatment.
The decision was taken after the two health professionals were found guilty in a report submitted by the Nainwa sub-divisional officer to the health department.
In addition, Shubhra Singh, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical and Health Department has taken the matter seriously and constituted an inquiry committee to probe the matter.

According to the health officials, instead of taking her to the delivery room, the pregnant woman in labour was asked to sit on a bench outside the hospital on Sunday.
The issue was discussed with the Bundi District Collector and the Nainwa sub-divisional officer was assigned to prepare a report. Based on their feedback, the department took strict action against the doctor and the ANM staff involved in the incident, according to Director Public Health Ravi Prakash Mathur.
As per an IANS report, the two accused - Senior Medical Officer Murarilal Meena and ANM staff Kusumlata Sharma, who were on duty at the hospital at the time of the incident, have been suspended with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the director of Public Health also served notices to five other nursing staff in connection with the case. Senior medical officer Krishna Kumar has also replaced Nainwa PMO Samundar Lal Meena.
Medical Dialogues had reported a similar incident where the Rajasthan Health Department suspended three resident doctors and served a show cause notice to the Medical Superintendent of Kanwatia Hospital after a woman delivered her baby outside the hospital after she was allegedly denied admission.
The three suspended doctors are PG students of the 2021 batch, 2022 batch and 2023 batch affiliated with the obstetrics and gynaecology department of the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College.
This move was taken after a preliminary investigation found their action as "serious negligence and insensitivity" and consequently suspended them.
