Woman posing as Neurosurgeon arrested at Thirvananthapuram Medical College

Thiruvananthapuram: A woman who allegedly posed as a neurosurgeon at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital was caught and later arrested by the hospital security staff. 

According to the news reports, the woman reportedly entered the super-speciality block claiming to be a doctor. She wore a stethoscope and attempted to move around the hospital without raising suspicion. Initial reports suggest that she is a native of Perunna and has stated that she resides in Peroorkada.

The security staff, who were suspicious of her behaviour as a senior neurosurgeon, informed the authorities. After checking the CCTV footage, it became clear that she had been roaming around in places, including the canteen. She went missing in the meantime. The female security staff caught the woman later, when she tried to escape by sneaking into an autorickshaw in front of the multi-speciality block in disguise, reports the

The Medical College Police have registered a case, and the woman is currently under interrogation. Her real identity is unknown, as she has reportedly used multiple aliases. She claimed that her husband works at Sree Chitra, but the police could not verify this.  

The motive behind her visit to the hospital in disguise is still unknown, and police are conducting further interrogation to determine the circumstances and intent.

Medical dialogues had previously reported that a 54-year-old man who impersonated a qualified medical practitioner using forged documents at Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) was sentenced to 29 months of rigorous imprisonment by a local court on Monday. The accused, a Class XII pass-out from Jharkhand, had been posing as Dr Ramesh Chandra Jha to secure employment at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) dialysis centre.
