Latur: A new 100-bed district hospital will come up in Latur in central Maharashtra as part of the National Health Mission, the state health department said on Friday.
State Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, who is also the Latur district guardian minister, will lay the foundation stone of the proposed hospital on Saturday (April 18), it said.
State Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil will preside over the function, which will take place in the premises of College of Agriculture on Nanded Road. Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar will be the chief guest at the ceremony.

Health department officials said the hospital, once completed, will further strengthen the district’s healthcare infrastructure.
Meanwhile, former mayor and NCP leader Vikrant Gojamgunde has demanded that the proposed hospital be named after late Congress stalwart Shivraj Patil, who hailed from Latur.
He submitted a memorandum to Guardian Minister Bhosale, stating that Patil, who served as Lok Sabha Speaker, Union minister and Governor during his decades-long political career, had made significant contributions to the development of Latur, Maharashtra, and the country.
Naming the hospital after him would inspire future generations and keep his legacy alive, Gojamgunde insisted.
