100 General, 20 ICU bedded COVID-19 hospital comes up at VIMSAR

Sambalpur - The Covid-19 hospital in the premises of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla became functional recently.

. With this the district got the second hospital for treatment of the novel Coronavirus infected people.

The Covid-19 hospital at VIMSAR has been made operational in a nine-storey building that had been lying unused for the last four years.

While there is a plan to utilise five floors of the building for the Covid-19 hospital, the hospital authorities made the fifth floor functional today and the remaining four floors will be ready within the next 10 days.

The Covid-19 hospital has 100 general beds and 20 ICU beds.

Director of VIMSAR, Lalit Meher said, we are trying to make the Covid-19 hospital functional in full fledged manner as early as possible. The ICU beds will also be ready within the next 10 days, he said.
