2 BJ Medical College Officials caught red -handed Accepting Rs 1 Lakh Bribe
Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Pune on Wednesday arrested two officials from BJ Medical College for accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh, the police said on Thursday.
According to the news reports, the accused had been identified as a 49-year-old senior assistant and a 53-year-old office superintendent.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of corruption in public institutions and the efforts of law enforcement to combat such practices.
The incident came to light on 1st April when a 32-year-old contractor approached the ACB with allegations against the two officials. The complainant alleges that he had completed a furniture supply and installation contract worth ₹20 lakh at BJ Government Medical College in 2023.

Following the complaint and subsequent investigation, the ACB officials conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of both officials as they accepted the bribe.
According to Hindustan Times, a case has been filed at Bund Garden police station by the ACB against the accused under sections 7, 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and further investigation is going on.

Medical dialogues had previously reported that a senior gynaecologist at a government hospital was arrested by Vigilance sleuths for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a pregnant woman in exchange for pre-natal and post-natal treatment in Kalahandi district headquarters hospital (DHH). The doctor was identified as a consultant gynaecologist and is in the rank of joint director in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), a Class-I officer in Kalahandi at Bhawanipatna.
