25-year-old patient allegedly raped by sweeper in UP hospital, accused absconding
Varanasi: Rape cases have been rapidly increasing each day, yet another case where an FIR has been lodged against a sweeper for allegedly rapping a female patient in the washroom of the divisional hospital of Mirzapur district.
The victim is 25-years-old from a village in the Mirzapur district. The incident took place at the night. She was suffering from stomach aches and was admitted to the divisional hospital on May 7. On the same day at night between 9 pm and 10 pm she went to the washroom of the hospital and was rapped by the sweeper while she was changing her clothes.
Later, the next morning she was referred to the Government Women's Hospital. She was discharged from the hospital on Monday but after coming home she again complained about more complications on the same day. She has rushed to GWH again. Following this, she informed her husband about the incident.

A case was reported at the Lalganj police station on Tuesday morning by her husband. When senior officials heard about the incident, they rushed to the hospital.
ASP City, Mirzapur, Sanjay Kumar Verma told TOI, "An FIR has been lodged under section 376 of IPC. Three teams have been formed to arrest the accused sweeper." Upon reaching the hospital, inspector Arvind Mishra recorded the woman's statement and summoned senior officials including DM Mirzapur Pravin Lakshkar, DIG/SP Ajay Kumar, ADM SP Shukla, CO Sadar Shailendra Tripathi, and other officers.
According to the police, the investigation is underway and soon they promised to nab the accused.
