She gave birth to a baby girl on October 2. However, she later developed severe bleeding and died on Sunday despite receiving treatment. The Sivaganga Town police have registered a case in connection with the death.
Alleging that her death was caused by medical negligence, the woman's relatives refused to take possession of the body and staged a roadblock protest near the Ambedkar statue for the second day.
When the police held talks with them, an argument broke out between the two parties. Subsequently, they were taken to the hospital for talks. MLA Kuzhanthai Rani Nachiyar, along with hospital authorities and the police, conducted negotiations, reports the Hindu.
During the negotiations, the family demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation for each of her three daughters, a government job for her husband and construction of a house for the family under a government scheme.
The MLA assured the family that appropriate steps would be taken regarding their demands for a government job and a house. Following the assurance, the relatives agreed to receive her body.
