755 new posts approved for Medical Colleges and Hospitals in Odisha
Odisha- To strengthen the healthcare services and improve the quality of medical education, the Odisha government on Tuesday approved the creation of 755 new posts across government medical colleges and healthcare institutions.
The newly sanctioned posts will help address staff shortages in medical colleges and hospitals, leading to better healthcare outcomes and an improved academic environment.
The decision is expected to meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals while also improving patient care and academic standards in medical institutions.
The recently sanctioned posts include 7 Professors, 35 Associate Professors, 50 Assistant Professors, 29 Tutors, 248 Senior Residents, 190 Junior Residents (MBBS), 112 Casualty Medical Officers (CMOs), and 84 Blood Bank Officers (BBOs).
The increase in the number of students created an urgent need for additional professors and other faculty members, making the approval of these posts essential.
Once these vacant positions are filled, the availability of teaching faculty and healthcare professionals in medical colleges across the state is expected to increase significantly, benefiting both students and patients.
Speaking on this development, Odisha's Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling told OdishaTV that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has given top priority to the healthcare sector.
The Minister also stated that the state government's objective is not only to provide better healthcare services to citizens but also to build a strong foundation for medical education in Odisha.
Additionally, the number of MBBS seats across three new medical colleges has recently been increased by 250, while the number of postgraduate (PG) seats has risen to 68.
The state government believes that this move will further strengthen Odisha's healthcare ecosystem and help set new benchmarks in quality medical education and patient care in the coming years.
This initiative is part of the government's comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring access to high-quality medical services for people across the state.
