AIIMS Jodhpur on high alert after receiving bomb threat email
Bomb threat
Jodhpur: Tension prevailed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jodhpur after the director of the institution received a threatening email warning of a potential suicide bomb blast using RDX on the campus. The authenticity of the information in the email is currently under investigation.
In response to the threat, the entire AIIMS campus was thoroughly searched with the help of bomb disposal and dog squads. However, no suspicious objects were found, but the security arrangements have been increased to prevent any potential harm.

Without any delay, the police swiftly tightened security on the campus after being alerted by the institute's administration in case the threats were found genuine. As a precaution, all visitors now have to undergo double-checking before entering the main building.
This comes after the director received an email on Tuesday night from a person who identified himself as a professor at Anna University of Chennai. Soon after, the police upon receiving intel increased the security of AIIMS.
DCP West Rajarshi Raj Verma told ETV Bharat, "Every corner of the AIIMS was searched with the help of bomb disposal and dog squads. Though no suspicious object was found, searches will continue. Vehicles parked at the parking lot outside and inside AIIMS were also thoroughly checked. At present, no statement has been given by AIIMS regarding this,"
The police suspect the sender may have used a false identity to hide and refrain from being tracked. Investigators are working to trace the source of the email. AIIMS officials have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a bomb threat at the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital in Perundurai prompted authorities to take action, only for the scare to be deemed a hoax following a thorough search by police personnel.
