SSKM Hospital receives bomb threat via email
Kolkata: The state-run SSKM Hospital on Tuesday received a bomb threat email, prompting a search and the police to launch an investigation, officials said. However, the threat email turned out to be a hoax.
As per the official information available, the authorities of the two institutions, which received such bomb-scare emails are state-run S.S.K.M. Medical College & Hospital in South Kolkata and Rabindra Bharati University in the northern outskirts of the city.

According to an IANS report, a city police official said that a private university in the city has also received a similar bomb-scare email. Sources said that on being informed the cops, including personnel from the bomb disposal squad and the sniffer dogs, reached the places where such email threats were received.
Till the latest information available, nothing suspicious has been detected and the police suspect that probably such emails were hoaxes. However, based on the email address from which the emails were sent, the cybercrime division of the city police has begun the process of identifying the IP address and then identifying and locating the sender.
As per a media report in the Millennium Post, the director of the SSKM hospital reportedly received an e-mail containing a bomb threat from an organisation styled as ‘KNR’. The email mentioned a bomb planted inside the academic building which will go off soon.
Kolkata Police have launched an investigation and are working to obtain the Internet Protocol (IP) address to track down the perpetrator. There is suspicion that a syndicate is responsible for sending similar emails nationwide.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a mental health institute at Sector 32, Chandigarh, received a bomb threat over email. The patients and employees were moved to safety and a search operation was initiated, police said.
