AIIMS Raipur ranked sixth among India's Best Hospitals in Newsweek 2026 list
Raipur: In a significant milestone, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur has secured a prestigious place in the Newsweek World's Best Hospitals in India 2026 rankings, further strengthening its reputation as one of the country's fastest-growing tertiary healthcare institutions. The institute was ranked sixth among India's leading government hospitals and emerged as the top-ranked institution among the New All India Institute of Medical Sciences establishments.
The international recognition reflects the institute’s rapid progress in patient care, medical education, research and healthcare innovation. The ranking was based on parameters including hospital quality metrics, peer recommendations, patient experience, and implementation of Patient Reported Outcome Measures surveys.

Despite challenges arising from a shortage of faculty, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur has registered significant growth over the past two years across multiple specialities, infrastructure development, advanced clinical services and research initiatives. The institute has consistently expanded access to affordable and advanced healthcare services for patients across Chhattisgarh and Central India.
Among the institute’s major achievements are the establishment of Central India’s first Government robotic surgery facility “Devhast”, the setting up of Chhattisgarh’s first Biosafety Level-3 laboratory, landmark success in kidney transplantation, including the State’s first paired kidney transplant in a Government hospital, expansion of advanced nuclear medicine facilities and the inauguration of a second cardiac catheterization laboratory. The institute has also established a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence laboratory and launched the Department of Surgical Oncology, according to the PIB.
In addition, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur has earned national recognition for biomedical innovation, research collaborations, National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories-accredited laboratories, disaster response preparedness and pioneering public health initiatives.
Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Lieutenant General Ashok Jindal (Retired) congratulated the institute’s faculty members, resident doctors, nursing officers, technical experts, paramedical personnel and administrative staff for their collective contribution in strengthening the institute’s clinical, academic and research ecosystem.
He stated that the recognition reflects the dedication, professionalism and patient-centric approach of the entire fraternity of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur. He reiterated the institute’s commitment towards adopting advanced medical technologies, strengthening research and innovation and ensuring world-class healthcare services for the people of Chhattisgarh so that patients do not need to travel outside the State for specialised treatment.
The recognition by Newsweek is being viewed as a significant endorsement of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur’s growing national and international stature in healthcare, academics and medical research.
