Faridabad- In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly delivered her baby in the park area of a government hospital in Faridabad under the flashlight of a mobile phone after her family was unable to get immediate medical assistance.

The family alleged that the hospital's main gate was locked and that no doctor or nurse was available to assist them with the delivery.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning at the 30-bed First Referral Unit hospital located in Sector 3 and sparked widespread outrage. According to reports, the woman delivered the baby at around 1:40 AM.

After the incident came to light, authorities ordered an inquiry, while two employees were suspended on charges of negligence.

A woman named Balesh, a resident of Badoli village, was brought to the hospital after going into labor. According to the TOI media report, her family members stated that they first arrived at the main entrance, only to find it locked. They repeatedly knocked on the door and shouted for help, but received no response.

The family later found another door at the back that was open and entered the premises in search of help. Yet, no doctor, nurse, or support staff came forward to assist them, Balesh alleged.

The labor was progressing rapidly, and no medical team was present; consequently, with the assistance of a relative, the baby was delivered right there in the hospital park. All these procedures were completed in the park, illuminated solely by the beam of a flashlight, before the mother and the newborn were moved inside the hospital.

Following the incident, the Health Department ordered an inquiry in accordance with the directives of the Health Minister and the Director General of Health Services. Virender Yadav, Director of the National Health Mission, Haryana, stated that the investigation revealed clear negligence during the night duty.

District Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Rachna stated that the woman arrived in a fully dilated state and gave birth to the baby within just a few minutes.

"The OPD gate was shut at night, though another gate was open for emergency services. It's unfortunate that the delivery took place outside the hospital," she added.
