AIIMS Rishikesh : CBI seized documents due to alleged irregularities in appointments

Rishikesh: The CBI( central  Bureau of Investigation) has registered a case and has began the investigation regarding irregularities in the appointments as well as purchases at the  All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ,Rishikesh during the tenure of its former Director Ravi Kant.

Established in 2012, the institution (also known as All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh) is one of the seven prestigious  AIIMS campuses set up by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).This institute registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act.

AIIMS Rishikesh is one of the only institutes which focuses on programmes related to Mental Health and Palliative Care Training with certificate courses in Palliative Care as well. It offers MBBS and BSc (Nursing) at UG level, MD/ MS/ MDS, MSc (Nursing) at PG level, DM and MCh and PDCC at super-specialty level. The institute offers a total of 32 OPDs, 96 specialised clinics for Genetics, Breast Disorders, Breast Cancer, Infertility, Lung Cancer etc.

A CBI team began its search and seizure operations at AIIMS, Rishikesh on Saturday and seized many documents, AIIMS Rishikesh PRO Harish Thapliyal said on Sunday.

The CBI raids follow allegations by social and political organizations in procurement and recruitments made by former AIIMS Director Ravi Kant.

Before the CBI began its probe into the case, the Central Vigilance Commission had also conducted a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities in material procurements and appointments made during Ravi Kant's tenure, an AIIMS official said, requesting anonymity.
