 New 100-Bedded Facility in Belagavi

Belagavi: In a major move aimed at enhancing healthcare facilities in Belagavi, the Directorate of E.S.I.S Medical Services has announced the transfer of all staff from the current ESI Hospital in Ashok Nagar. The transfer, effective immediately, is part of a plan to demolish the existing hospital building and replace it with a state-of-the-art, modern facility.

According to the notification, the staff has been directed to transfer the hospital to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). This move will facilitate the demolition of the current hospital building and the construction of a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

The new hospital, a 100-bed modern facility, will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 155 Crores. Once completed, the hospital is expected to significantly improve healthcare services for the insured population and their beneficiaries in the region. The new facility will be the first ESIC hospital in North Karnataka, marking a historic milestone for the area.

As per a recent media report by Belagavi Infra, at present, the IP population in the catchment area of Udyambagh, Belagavi (Karnataka) is around 94636.

The ESI hospital, located on 3.1 acres of land in Ashok Nagar, is in a dilapidated condition. A structural audit carried out by the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Tiruchirappalli has deemed the hospital building and its staff quarters unfit for human occupancy. According to the report, strengthening the building would not be cost-effective, as the majority of its structural elements are beyond repair. As a result, the demolition of the existing structure has been deemed necessary.
